Tourism Infrastructure

Leveraging from the $1 billion spent by overseas visitors (year ending June 2007), Invest Brisbane has officially added Tourism Infrastructure as part of their investment attraction portfolio. Acting as a catalyst for change, we are working with Tourism Queensland, local councils and industry bodies to determine future directions for the region. Strategies are guided by the Regional Tourism Infrastructure and Investment Plan, which forms part of the State Government’s Queensland Tourism Strategy.

Invest Brisbane is already leading several projects, such as the Moreton Bay & Islands Tourism Infrastructure Plan and six star hotel developments. The current pipeline of tourism infrastructure projects is worth in excess of $200 million – a figure which is expected to grow significantly as private and public partnerships increase.

There are extensive opportunities for investment within CBD hotels, Moreton Bay & Islands eco-tourism accommodation, day trip facilities, transport infrastructure, river-based marinas and high-profile tourist attractions.
