Queensland Design Network

The planned Queensland Design Network is envisaged to operate as a central body responsible for the overall advancement and promotion of the design industry.

It aims to establish Brisbane as the centre for Queensland design by promoting and marketing design capabilities under a united brand; acting as a commercial brokerage house for the design industry as a whole, and linking industry organisations, designers, producers & educational institutions.

Invest Brisbane and The Design Institute of Australia intends to establish design as a key economic driver in Queensland. Examples of progress being made towards this goal includes the ongoing relationship with the Shenzhen Furniture Design Institute (Shenzhen is a member of the Brisbane City Council's Sister Cities program), and the development of experience centres - such as the Gasometer at Newstead - to engage, entertain and educate the public.
